I’ve wasted lots and lots of money on products only to be disappointed when they break my skin out or don’t give me what I need. So I was super excited when I found a recipe for face lotion using Young Living Oils. I adapted and changed it a bit to meet my needs but I’m excited to share it!
1/3 cup raw shea butter
1 tsp vitamin e
30 drops frankinsence
30 drops bergamot
15 drops lavender
10 drops lemon
10 drops purification
Melt shea butter in a glass bowl. Add vitamin e and oils and whisk with an electric hand mixer for 1-2 minutes. Pour into glass jar and put in fridge to set. Use morning and night
So lets go into why I chose these things for my face cream. I know what you are probably thinking, shea butter is super thick, and it is but it also rates 0 on the comedogenic ratings. These ratings give a 0-5 rating to carrier oils and how they will clog your pores. 0 being will not clog pores and 5 being high. Coconut oil is rated 4 and for someone who has trouble with breakouts I would not recommend coconut oil. If you prefer a more liquid consistency I would recommend jojoba but its still rated at 2. Hemp seed oil is rated at 0 as well but it doesn’t have a very long shelf life. I buy my raw shea butter by the pound and use it for lots of stuff!
Frankincense, Bergamot, Lavender, Lemon, and Purification are all amazing for skin.
I also make a smaller version for just my eyes. I pull out a heaping spoonful of the shea butter and melt then add 20 drops frankincense, 20 drops bergamot and 10 drops of lavender.
